\nP02E0, P02E9, Noise Heard, Replaced Diesel Intake Throttle Valve<\/p>\n

Complaint<\/strong>
\nThe customer states an unusual noise is heard from the vehicle. The customer also states the check engine light is on.<\/p>\n

Cause<\/strong>
\nConfirmed the customer’s complaint and heard an unusual noise from the vehicle. Connected a scan tool and found codes: P02E0 – Diesel Intake Air Flow Control Circuit\/ Open and P02E9 – Diesel Intake Air Flow Position Sensor Circuit High. Used a set of fused jumper wires to apply voltage and ground to the diesel intake throttle valve and found the valve responded but was noisy when operating. Used a lab scope to backprobe the diesel intake throttle valve position sensor, snapped the throttle open and found the sensor signal dropped out. Removed the diesel intake throttle valve and inspected the control motor gear and found the teeth on the gear were damaged. The control motor gear is integrated into the diesel intake throttle valve and is replaced as an entire unit.<\/p>\n

Correction<\/strong>
\nReplaced the diesel intake throttle valve, reset the diesel intake throttle valve, cleared the codes, performed a road test, and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate, no unusual noises and no fault codes returned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
