SureTrack community member maxtire2016 had a Ford pickup that would blow the fuse for the dash anytime the truck was put into overdrive. They posed the question to the community, and with the help of fellow community member jhirz and others, they were able to resolve the issue.

Title
Dash fuse blows, fixed shifter wiring.

Complaint
When you are driving the truck and put it in overdrive the fuse for the dash blows every time

Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced
Replaced with new fuse. Checked the wiring and all looks good.

Follow wires from base of shifter to column connector. They rub through and short to ground.

Cause
Found bare wires in the shifter, causing short when overdrive is used.

Correction
Repaired damaged shifter wiring and fuse no longer blows when put in overdrive.
