Title

P0773, Replaced Automatic Transmission Shift Solenoid (E)

Complaint

The customer states the check engine light is on.

Cause

Connected a scan tool and found code P0773 – Shift Solenoid “E” Electrical. Performed an inspection of the fuses and relays but found no obvious faults. Disconnected the automatic transmission shift solenoid E connector, inspected the automatic transmission shift solenoid E wiring harness, and found no faults. Key on, engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of battery voltage at the automatic transmission shift solenoid E connector, and found no faults. Used the multi-meter to measure the resistance of the automatic transmission shift solenoid E and found the measured resistance was out of limits.

Correction

Replaced the automatic transmission shift solenoid E, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no-fault codes returned.
