Title
P0833-00, Replaced Manual Transmission Clutch Switch
Complaint
The customer states that the check engine light is on.
Cause
Confirmed customer complaint, check engine light on. Connected a scan tool and found code P0833-00 – Clutch Pedal Switch “B” Circuit. Key on, engine off, used the scan tool to monitor live data and found that the manual transmission clutch switch parameter was not within specifications. Performed an inspection of the manual transmission clutch switch wiring harness and connectors, and found that there were no loose connections or signs of damage. With the key on, engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage at the manual transmission clutch switch and found that voltage was present. Used the multi-meter to check for the presence of a short or open in the manual transmission clutch switch wiring harness and found that there were no shorts or opens present. With the key on, engine off, used the scan tool to monitor live data, connected a jumper wire across the manual transmission clutch switch harness connector terminals, and observed that the manual transmission clutch switch parameter changed state. These test results verified that the manual transmission clutch switch was faulty.
Correction
Replaced the manual transmission clutch switch, cleared codes, performed a road test, and verified that the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
