So you’re driving down the road and you hit a bump and the engine shuts off. You can’t replicate it in your shop, what are you going to do? SureTrack community member lamar had a Chevrolet Tahoe in his shop that would loose power momentarily when hitting a bump or driving on rough road. They posed the question to the community, and with the help of fellow community member Speedybon and others, they were able to resolve the issue.
The following Real Fix summarizes the interaction between them in the community that led to the solution.
Vehicle
2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Base 5.3L
Title
Intermittent Engine Shut Off, Repaired Ground
Complaint
While driving if you hit a bump, or real rough place, in the road for a split second, the engine shuts off, check engine light comes on, doors unlock. And just as quick as they did, the doors lock back, power is back to engine, and check engine light goes out, All in a blink of an eye, but no codes.
Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced
Checked engine wiring, ignition wiring, bump tested, Wiggle tested, Can’t duplicate unless driving. Just wanted to see if anyone had run in to this before, or had any ideas.
