It might be Spring but there are still many areas under a deep freeze, and many people can’t live without their heated seats. Follow this Real Fix to see how the non working heated seats in this Chevrolet Equinox were diagnosed and repaired.

B2509, U0209, Replaced Heated Seat Control Module

Complaint
The customer states the heated seat is inoperative.

Cause
Connected a scan tool and found codes: B2508 – Seat Heater Relay Circuit Shorted To Battery Or Open U0209 – Lost Communication With “Seat Control Module B”. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the heated seat connector and found supply voltage was not present. Performed an inspection of the heated seat wiring harness and connector and found no faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used the multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the heated seat supply voltage terminal of the heated seat control module and found voltage was not present. With the ignition on and the engine off, used the multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the heated seat control module connector and found both were present. The results of these tests verified the heated seat control module was faulty.

Correction
Replaced the heated seat control module, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly.
