Title
P20E2, Replaced Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor

Complaint
The customer states the check engine light is on.

Cause
Connected a scan tool and found code P20E2 – Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1/2 Correlation (Bank 1). Engine cold, with the key on, engine off, used the scan tool to monitor live data and found the exhaust gas temperature sensor #2 signal parameter was over 25 degrees C higher than the exhaust gas temperature sensor #1 and exhaust gas temperature sensor #3 signal parameters. Performed an inspection of the exhaust gas temperature sensor #2 wiring harness and connectors, and found there were no loose connections or signs of damage. Used a multi-meter to measure the resistance of the exhaust gas temperature sensor #2 and found the measured resistance was out of specifications. These test results verified the exhaust gas temperature sensor #2 was faulty.

Correction
Replaced the exhaust gas temperature sensor #2, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
