P1445, Replaced Diesel Particulate Filter, Refilled Diesel Particulate Filter Additive
Complaint
The customer states the check engine light is on.
Cause
Connected a scan tool and found code P1445 – The Quantity Of Additive Injected Into The Particulate Emission Filter Has Exceeded The Maximum Threshold. With the key on and the engine off, connected the scan tool and monitored live data. Found that the diesel particulate filter additive reservoir was below the minimum volume and the amount of additive added to the diesel particulate filter to have exceeded the maximum value for the filter. With the vehicle raised, inspected the diesel particulate filter additive reservoir, and pump. Found that there was no obvious damage. With the key on and the engine off, connected the scan tool and activated the diesel particulate filter additive pump. Found that the pump activated and performed correctly. These tests confirmed that the diesel particulate filter additive pump was functional.
Correction
Replaced the diesel particulate filter, refilled the diesel particulate filter additive, cleared codes, performed a road test, and verified that the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
