Title
P2453, Replaced Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor
Complaint
The customer states the check engine light is on.
Cause
Connected a scan tool and found code P2453 – Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor “A” Circuit Range/Performance. Used the scan tool to monitor the live data with the engine at idle and found the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor parameter was intermittent. Inspected the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor wiring harness and connector, but found no concerns. Inspected the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor pipes, but found no concerns. With the key on, engine off, used a multi-meter to check for voltage and ground at the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor connector and found both were present. Used a lab scope to backprobe the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor with the engine at idle, snapped the throttle, and found the sensor signal was intermittent. These test results verified the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor was faulty.
Correction
Replaced the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor, cleared codes, performed a road test, and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
