P061F, P2101, Replaced Throttle Body
Complaint
The customer states the check engine light is on.
Cause
Connected a scan tool and found codes: P061F – Internal Control Module Throttle Actuator Controller Performance and P2101 – Throttle Actuator “A” Control Motor Circuit Range/Performance. With the vehicle at idle, depressed the throttle pedal and found that the vehicle idle did not increase. Viewed live scan tool data and found the accelerator pedal position sensor changed as the pedal was depressed. Also found the throttle position data did not respond as the accelerator pedal was depressed. Removed the air filter housing to gain access to the throttle body. With the key on, engine off, moved the throttle body butterfly by hand and found that the throttle position sensor data changed. Disconnected the throttle body connector, used a multi-meter to measure the resistance of the throttle body motor and found that there was no continuity present. These tests verified that the throttle body was faulty.
Correction
Replaced the throttle body, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
