SureTrack Community Fix: Not Cool Lincoln

exhaust gas recirculation valve, SureTrack Real Fixes

It can be very frustrating to replace a lot of parts and still not have a fix for a problem. SureTrack community member mannym27 had a Lincoln MKZ in the shop where the air conditioning wouldn’t work and they replaced a lot of components trying to fix it to no avail. They posed the question to the community, and with the help of fellow community member ericsautomotive and others, they were able to resolve the issue quickly.

The following Community Fix summarizes the interaction between members of the community that led to the solution.

Vehicle
2010 Lincoln MKZ 3.5L

Title
A/C compressor cycling, replaced evaporator temperature sensor.

Complaint
Customer states that the air conditioning does not cool the car.

Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced
Ran car with air conditioning on and compressor keeps cycling on and off. It won’t stay on enough time to cool car. This was my original problem, so I did a complete A/C kit thinking it would fix my problem. But I am back at square one. I also changed the A/C high pressure switch, still have the same problem. Replaced A/C compressor, dryer, expansion valve and high pressure switch. Does anyone know what the A/C pressure voltage and KPA should be (normal) for this car as well as the evaporator temperature?

This sounds like the evaporator temperature sensor is at fault. I’ve replaced several for this exact symptom.

Cause
Defective evaporator temperature sensor.

Correction
Replaced evaporator temperature sensor. This fixed compressor cut off problem. This is a very hard fix, must tear down complete dash to get to part. Minimum 6hr. job.
