Title
P210E00, Replaced Accelerator Pedal
Complaint
The customer states that the check engine light is on.
Cause
Confirmed customer complaint check engine light on. Connected a scan tool and found code P210E00 – Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “C”/”F” Voltage Correlation. With the key on and engine off, I used the scan tool to monitor live data and found the accelerator pedal position sensor signal parameter intermittently dropped out. Performed an inspection of the accelerator pedal position sensor wiring harness and connectors, and found there were no loose connections or signs of damage.
With the key on, engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the accelerator pedal position sensor and found both were present. Used the multi-meter to check for the presence of a short or open in the accelerator pedal position sensor wiring harness and found there were no shorts or opens present. With the key on, engine off, backprobed the accelerator pedal position sensor and monitored the sensor signal on a lab scope. The accelerator pedal position sensor signal observed on the lab scope was erratic. These test results verified the accelerator pedal was faulty.
Correction
Replaced the accelerator pedal, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
