Title
P1206, Replaced Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor
Complaint
The customer states that the check engine light is on.
Cause
Confirmed the customer’s complaint and identified the check engine light illuminated. Using a scan tool revealed code P1206 – Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold. During idle, monitoring live data via the scan tool indicated erratic behavior in the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor signal parameter. Employing a lab scope, backprobed the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor signal circuit at the control module revealed erratic signal parameters, indicating a potential fault in the sensor or circuitry. Conducted a multi-meter test to identify any shorts or opens in the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor wiring harness, determining the absence of any shorts or opens. Upon disconnecting the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor connector, visually inspected the connector and terminals for any damage, finding none apparent. Visually inspected the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor pipe for signs of damage, with no obvious issues noted. These test results verified that the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor was faulty
Correction
Replaced the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor, cleared codes, performed a road test, and verified that the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
