Title
9E2B, Replaced Park Assist Sensor

Complaint
The customer states that park assistance is not functional.

Cause
Connected a scan tool and found code 9E2B – Ultrasonic Sensor, Rear Left. Selected the reverse gear and found the park assist was not functional. Viewed live scan tool data and found the left rear park assist sensor data was erratic. Removed the rear splash guard to gain access to the park assist multi-plug. With key on, engine off, used a multi-meter to check for power and ground at the park assist multi-plug and found both were present. Connected a lab scope to the left rear park assist sensor signal wire, selected the reverse gear again and found no signal was produced. These tests verified that the park assist sensor was faulty.

Correction
Replaced the park assist sensor, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The customer’s concern did not return.
