Title
P024100, Replaced Turbocharger Pressure Sensor
Complaint
The customer states the check engine light is on.
Cause
Confirmed the customer’s complaint and found that the check engine light is on. Connected a scan tool and found code P024100 – Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor “B” Circuit Low. Performed a road test and used the scan tool to monitor live data, finding that the turbocharger pressure sensor signal parameter was below specifications. Performed a visual inspection of the turbocharger pressure sensor and found no obvious faults. Inspected the turbocharger pressure sensor wiring harness and connectors, finding no loose connections or signs of damage. With the key on, engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the turbocharger pressure sensor, and found that both were present. Used the multi-meter to check for the presence of a short or open in the turbocharger pressure sensor wiring harness, finding no shorts or opens present. With the engine running, backprobed the turbocharger pressure sensor, snapped the throttle, and monitored the sensor signal on a lab scope. The turbocharger pressure sensor signal observed on the lab scope was below specifications. These test results verified that the turbocharger pressure sensor was faulty.
Correction
Replaced the turbocharger pressure sensor, cleared codes, performed a road test, and verified that the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
